THE FALL OF BATAAN

Bataan has seen one of the fiercest fights in the Philippines’ history. It became a warzone during World War II. Brutal and Catastrophe is an understatement for it has seen over 76,00 people shed blood and drop dead at the hands of the Japanese. On the 9th of April, 1942, we have seen Bataan fall, yet this was a gateway for the Philippines to rise, and escape the hands of the colonizers.  Today, We celebrate the 9th of April as our Independence Day. A commemoration of the day thousands of Filipinos have sacrificed their lives for us. The day Bataan fell was the day Filipinos had a chance to rise above the hands of the people who have stolen our land. Although it was bloody, it had made a mark on our History. On “Araw ng Kagitingan” we commemorate the lives of those who fought for us, we commemorate how strong Bataan is, and we celebrate our independence.  Bataan stands tall amidst the bloodshed that has happened within it. Our Faith is Stronger

  Lenten is the most solemn season that can be observed in the Philipines. It is a season of prayer and penance – a season of reflecting. The Philippines spend the Lenten season with events such as Daan ng Krus, Pabasa, Viernes Dolores, Pagpapaligo sa ‘Amba’, Senakulo, Linggo ng Palaspas, Prusisyon, Visita Iglesia, Penitencia, and Paglilibing. This is alongside fasting and abstinence. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten Season, and Easter Sunday marks the end. Lenten shows the passion of Christ, and Catholics during this season reflect and be thankful for their savior, our Lord Jesus Christ.  The events mentioned were a tradition, but because of the pandemic. These events went to a halt for 2 years. This 2022, according to Inquirer, Ash crosses were received by Catholics on Wednesday (March 2) as they were invited by the Church to “repent and believe in the Gospel.”  Simple for some, but this shows that everything is slowly getting back to normal, and this may be ...
